View Full Version : Taking the plunge and buying a full exhaust system. Help me choose
I've narrowed it down to two systems so far. First we have the Two Brothers full system:

Next up, the slightly pricier Akrapovic:

I like 2 brothers sounds deeper:)
How much does these cost?
Tone my boy just bought a 02 1000 gsxr with the CF muzzy, i think its the nicest exhaust I've heard, I actually have a small video clip taken on my cell phone from the other night, but I'm sure you can find someone with it on youtube...that would be my pick, otherwise i like the two brothers exhaust next...
Akrapovic is $1,580
Two Brothers is $966
On top of those prices $270 for a Power Commander so the bike doesn't run like shit.

imo for bikes is not as same as for cars. i think the sharper and crisp the exhaust sounds the better. cause it makes it sound alot more exotic, so ima have to go with the akrapovic
I'm gonna need earplugs with the Two Brothers though. The video doesn't really show how loud it is. It's literally the loudest exhaust possible you can buy. You can hear someone with it coming from a mile away.

I like the akrapovic...I've heard another vid of the akrapovic where it sounds a hell of a lot better then it does in that vid.
The two brothers sounds good when reaving, but idling it sounds like a 4 stroke quad.

Well am the fucking man when it comes to aftermarket bike parts :) I will gladly chime in... First of def look into buying a power commander.. you will run lean with a full set up.. Second Suzuki and Yoshimura go hand and hand my dude... just listen for yourself :) Full setup R55

I love Akrapovic but for kawasakis.
Two brothers are awsome pipes but wayyyyy to loud for my liking.
So my main question is... I doubt youre a hardcore rider, correct me if am wrong but this is your first bike... You def dont wanna put in so much money on your first bike... TRUST ME LOL.. Id say get a slip on... much cheaper, cars on the road can hear u comming, and you get a decent power increase for more than half the price of a full system..And the pipes scream at high rpms and pur at idle.. My 2cents..

I'm not a huge fan of the Yoshis, and what sucks about the K8 and K9's is that the cat is welded to the headers. Without cutting the cat off, a slip on basically sounds the same as stock. After I get a decent slip on, cut the cat off, and have a small mid pipe fabricated I'm only saving a few hundred bucks. Yeah it's my first bike, but if I wasn't going to go all out with it I wouldn't have bought a brand new one. I would have picked up something used for 3 - 5 grand. I've got 2 months on the damn thing and about 2k miles. :)

the 2 brothers sounds better in the videos. The quality of the 2nd vid might not be that great so i dont think you can really hear it.
if it costs that much more, it might sound better(usually money talks..the more you pay the better the quality)

Akra..my friend has a header back (with power commander) on his CBR and I love how it sounds.. He used to have a Yoshi.
They really are the holy grail of bike exhausts.
Maybe it's the video, but Two Brothers sounds wayy better
Bit better of a video.

Also, here's a video of just the Akra slip-on on an 07. The full exhaust sounds even better. I'm torn.
