I have no idea how I came accross this site but that seems to happen to me a lot at 6:30 in the morning. A bit of a long story but here goes. My name is Mary I am not an owner of a G35 or Nissan but I am the owner of a 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS (WHITE). Now here's where the plasti Dip comes in. I was obsessed with wanting to change the color of my car using something temporary so I started looking into vinyl car wrapping. After many quotes & the lowest being $3,200 I was just OUT. I couldn't afford it. No way no how. I started youtubing vinyling because i was still obsessed with it & somehow came accross a guy who was vinyling rims. On the side of that video I saw a vid which appeared to be of a guy painting a white car black. Low & behold it was! I watched the video & was in shock at how awesome this car looked afterwards painted matte black with plasti dip. This guy really had balls because it was a brand new Audi. This dude named Fonzie who owns the company called
www.dipyourcar.com sells all kinds of kits for your car. For rims, trims, complete car dipping kits that come with pro sprayers and so on. You can even request custom colors! So naturally you can only guess where my mind went. I started doing a lot of test project's with this stuff before i bought it from the site. I went to Lowes & purchased 2 shake cans of Matte Black Plasti Dip & must have sprayed everything that I could get my hands on before even going near my car. About 5-6 coats on moms expensive coated dishes/plastic plates/a metal door/metal floor I have in my basement which is pre-painted & even a metal pre-painted handrailing. I waited about a week which killed me because I wanted to test the peeling abilities of this product soooooo badly. So the long week went by & I started on the dish to my surprise it peeled off easilly no damage. Moved onto the plastic plate same results now here was the real test would it come off of the metal prepainted surfaces that I added 5-6 coats to without damaging the paint underneath?. Da da Da da effortlessly!!!. So here came the test of a lifetime. I bit the bullet & went to dipyourcar & ordered the pro car kit & I believe with shipping & such came to about $300 dollars (I know I'm insane) I requested a Matte violet/light purple color. The kit also came with a wagner pro sprayer & 2 gallons of Plasti Dip. I also purchased the Rim kit for $25. About 3 days later I received an email with a pic of the color that was mixed for me so I went with it. I have a cousin who has worked in auto body for over 40 years (he's 62 now) & I contacted him to see if he would help me on my Plasti Dip adventure! I also asked him to please please please don't tell my parents because even though I'm 28 they would still swear I was going to ruin my car & I would have them over my shoulders the whole time while the work was being done. So the adventure began...
It was Saturday about 6am when we started to get to work on the car. We hand washed the car the night before, hand dried it & covered it with a car cover so there was no dirt, bugs etc. We taped off & covered all areas to protect with newspaper & blue painters tape that came with the kit. My cousin opened the box & started to mix the Plasti Dip & asked me "Are you sure you want to try this because I would???" I figured what the hell if i didn't like it i could just peel it off because it would still be fresh enough to do so. Then it began. My cousin started to spray the first coat & it made me extreamly nervous because it looked like crap. He assured me that when any paint is applied to a car the first few coats look bad so I felt a little better. 2nd coat started to get darker less of the white was visible. 3rd coat started to look better. 4th coat looking good 5th coat (EXCITED) 6th & final coat UnF*****G believeable. we waited 4 hours then started to work on the emblems & grill Flat black once again it looked awesome!!! Rims were saved for another project later on. We had worked so hard on this for about 16 hours we decided to wait to do those another day. I was on my way home & stopped at a local grocery store when I started to get tons of compliaments on my car. Everyone thought it was a custom paint job! I never lied though I even showed them the remaining can of plasti dip I had in my trunk. About 2 months later. Literally last week. I went to visit a friend of mine upstate NY & stopped at a local liquer store. I was in there for less than 5 minutes. I came out to a guy screaming at me that some dude just hit my car & took off. He took off my passenger side mirror & scraped from the passenger side front door to the ass of the bumper

straight throught the plasti dip down to the metal. The next day I peeled off the plasti dip without any problems. The only problem i did have was getting into the small crannies but with a little patience it all came off. My car is now being repaired by my cousin as we speak. I will end my story here because i don't want to talk anyone's head off anymore I just wanted to share my expierience with plast dip. Will I do it again ABSOLUTLY!!! I have no idea what the guy above did to his car but obviously something he did went terribly wrong. Plasti dip is ment for 12 month periods at a time no longer or it will chip & will be extreamly difficult to remove but I highly doubt it will peel your paint off. This was my experience. Everyone elses is different. I wish I still had the pics of my car to post but they were all on my old phone. When I get my car back I am going to make sure it's completly cured & will re plasti dip it & I will post pics here. I hope this helped the people who may be considering trying this out because in my oppinion it's worth it & if you get the right color (Mattes look best) it will look phenominal
